Intraoral Massage

Intraoral massage is working on the muscles inside of the mouth. Some of the primary muscles focused are the Masseter, and lateral/medial Pterygoid muscles. This simply means that the muscles being targeted for treatment are accessed by the therapist inside the client’s mouth. It is a safe and effective manual technique that works on muscles inside the mouth.

The therapist wears medical exam gloves and slowly and gently treats the targeted muscle with light pressure. It can be intense, but it is not necessarily painful. Since it deals with muscles that are rarely touched, they respond to slow, methodic and gentle pressure. This treatment improves blood flow, releases muscle tension which helps with jaw clenching and eases TMJD (temporomandibular Joint disorder), as well as relieves sinus discomfort.
